Easter Fondant Cupcake Topper

If, like me, you've been looking for inspiration for your Easter cupcakes you've probably seen lots of buttercream 'nests' (complete with mini eggs!) and probably quite a few fondant bunnies hiding in buttercream 'grass' too. But if you're looking for something a little different, or something that you don't need to buy a special icing tip to make, there doesn't seem that much out there. Or so I thought, until I found this super-cute fondant cupcake topper tutorial from those lovely people at Cake Journal.  It's so simple, yet so effective, and you can even use the toppers on cookies as well as cupcakes! Ruffled Cake Stand Tutorial

I'm always looking for new ways to display my cupcakey treasures, and I also love all things crafty, so you can imagine how delighted I was to discover something that combines the best of both... a pretty ruffled cake stand! This fabulous tutorial from Cake Journal is so versatile, not only can it be used to display cupcakes or cookies but it can also be used to hold and display cake pops!  Cheap and easy to make I can see that I'm going to be making one in every colour imaginable!

Teacup Cupcake Pincushion

I thought I'd share what I'd been up to this weekend with you all!  After falling in love with some lovely teacup pincushions that I'd found on my internetty journeys, and then finding this beautiful vintage teacup, I wanted to see if I could turn it into my very own special cupcakey treasure.

I used the broderie anglais to give the idea of a cupcake liner and the brown felt to suggest chocolate cupcakey deliciousness (my favourite!).  I then tried to use the pink and white felt in a way that looked like icing (as icing-y as I could get it at least!) and the red felt strawberry... well, that's meant to look just like a strawberry!  I'm rather pleased with how it's turned out and it now has pride of place in my little craft room!

Our 2012 Cupcakey Challenge

With the hustle and bustle of Christmas over for another year we're starting to think of the New Year, and with New Year comes resolutions.
